Usher addressed the backlash surrounding his tight hug with Alicia Keys during their Super Bowl 2024 Halftime Show performance.
He mentioned on the “Breakfast Club” radio show that he and Alicia’s husband, Swizz Beatz, found the reaction amusing.
“Absolutely, we laughed about it,” Usher, 45 shared.
“It’s crazy how people think,” he continued. “It’s all about how you present things, man, it’s all about love.”
Usher emphasized that their duet was all about celebrating the legacy of their 2004 hit song “My Boo” and having fun. He clarified that there was no intention of disrespecting anyone.
Swizz Beatz also defended the performance against criticism the day after the Super Bowl.
“Y’all don’t see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium ⚡️🚨😂😂😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨 Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with 2 amazing Giants!” he wrote alongside an Instagram carousel of photos of the performance.
