In a candid conversation on Barstool Sports’ “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast released on June 25, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce reflected on the moment he realized he was falling for his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
The episode, recorded on June 19, offers an intimate glimpse into the dynamics of their high-profile relationship.
Kelce, 34, shared his admiration for Swift’s self-awareness and how her genuine demeanor captivated him.
“She’s very self-aware,” he said. “And I think that’s why I really started to fall for her—how genuine she is around friends and family. It can get crazy for somebody with that much attention, but she just keeps it so chill and so cool.”
Kelce recounted a significant moment from September 24, 2023, when Swift publicly attended her first Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears. Instead of opting for extensive security measures, Swift chose a more down-to-earth approach. “She really won me over with that one,” Kelce revealed. “She wanted to be around family and friends, and experience this with everybody, just walking through the front door.”
Despite the intense media attention their relationship has garnered, Kelce emphasized their effort to keep things as private as possible initially. “Nobody really gave me s— in the locker room when the dating rumors started,” he noted. The couple confirmed their relationship in October 2023 by stepping out together at a Saturday Night Live afterparty. “Nobody knew what was going on, [it was] really all over the place. We kinda kept it between us as much as we could.”
While Kelce acknowledges the challenges of maintaining privacy amidst public scrutiny, he expressed his pride in their relationship. “I’m not here to hide anything … that’s my girl, that’s my lady,” he declared. “I’ve had fun with just about every aspect of it. It’s just when you’re at home you want privacy, and you don’t always get that.”
