In the latest episode of The Kardashians, aired on June 20th, viewers witnessed a poignant moment between Kylie and Kendall Jenner that originally unfolded on the June 13th edition.
During their conversation, Kylie, 26, tearfully confided in her sister, saying, “It’s a miracle I still have confidence and can look in the mirror and think I’m pretty.”
Reflecting on her experience following Paris Fashion Week in September, the Kylie Cosmetics founder shared that she faced significant criticism about her appearance. She expressed her desire to adopt a more minimal makeup style after being told she wore too much, only to receive backlash for applying too little.
The episode highlighted Kylie’s vulnerability and the challenges she faces navigating public scrutiny while maintaining her self-esteem. It shed light on the pressures and contradictions celebrities like her often encounter regarding their appearance in the public eye.
“I hear nasty things about myself all the time,” she said in a confessional. “I think it’s just after 10 years of hearing about it, it just gets exhausting.”
She stated she’s “so numb” to people constantly commenting on her appearance and wonders why “the internet” thinks it’s acceptable.
“We’re dehumanised in our family,” Kendall, 28, told her. “There are no rules between us. They don’t believe we have any sensations.”
“I went on a journey last year, dissolving half of my lip filler,” Kylie explained. “I detest having to have this conversation over and over again. It feels like a waste of my breath because I believe nothing will ever change with me.
Kendall enveloped her younger sister in a hug, realising how badly the criticism had affected her.
“Like, I’ve never cried about this before, but I guess it does affect me,” Kylie told me. “People have been talking about my looks since I was 12 or 13, before I even got lip filler.”
“I think I’m really strong, and I was put in this position for a reason,” Kylie admitted in a confessional. “I do think of myself as a confident person… but I’m also human and there’s only so much someone can take.”
“Our family’s been in the industry for a long time,” Kendall reassured. “Sadly it’s something we need to grow tough skin on.”
“I cannot let the comments bring me down,” Kylie remarked, pulling herself together. “I’ve got s— to do.”
