Presenter and comedian Ellen DeGeneres has decided to end her career in front of the cameras, announcing during a press conference that she will retire after more than 40 years in show business.
DeGeneres answered questions from reporters and fans. When a fan asked if she would return after her “Ellen’s Last Stand…Up” tour, she replied bluntly, “No. This is the last time you’ll see me. After my Netflix special, I don’t want it anymore.” She offered no further details on the matter.
“I’m leaving, goodbye,” DeGeneres told her fans, who have begun pleading with her not to retire after such a successful and lengthy career as one of the benchmarks of showbiz in the United States.
However, the truth is that her status has long been in question, especially after accusations emerged about an allegedly toxic work environment.
In 2020, a complaint was filed against her, leading to numerous others claiming that the host fostered a culture of fear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
Following a period of steadily declining audiences, the show was ultimately canceled.
