A wave of high-profile celebrities and athletes are voicing strong opposition to Algerian boxer Imane Khelif’s participation in the upcoming Paris Olympics after her gender was called into question.
Logan and Jake Paul have both expressed their frustration with the Olympic Committee’s decision to allow Khelif to compete, with Logan Paul describing the situation as “the purest form of evil.”
Despite their personal differences, Dillon Danis and Logan Paul share a similar stance on this issue, with Danis labeling the situation as “despicable and unacceptable.”
Claressa Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in boxing, expressed her dismay, saying she was “heartbroken” for all the women boxers competing in the Olympics.
J.K. Rowling, known for her outspoken views, did not hold back in her criticism. She described Khelif’s participation as “the smirk of a male who knows he’s protected by a misogynist sporting establishment, enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head, and whose life’s ambition he’s just shattered.”
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley did not directly comment on the matter but did retweet a statement from former college swimming star Riley Gaines, who previously competed against Lia Thomas. Gaines’s tweet read, “Men don’t belong in women’s sports.”
Other notable figures who have weighed in on the controversy include Elon Musk, Dez Bryant, Israel Adesanya, and Sauce Gardner.
It remains unclear when Khelif will next compete, but the backlash against the Olympic Committee’s decision shows no signs of abating.
