It turns out Ben Affleck is just like the rest of us—a man with emotions! The actor, who recently became the subject of the viral Internet meme “Sad Affleck,” has addressed the public perception of his seemingly upset demeanor in paparazzi photos.
“I’m a bit shy,” Ben told host Kevin Hart during the fourth season of Peacock’s Hart to Heart. “But I also don’t really like attention. That’s why people look at me and say, ‘Why is this guy always upset?’ ” he added.
However, there’s another reason he often looks upset in paparazzi photos. Ben is deeply protective of his family, especially the children he shares with ex-partner Jennifer Garner—Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel—as well as Jennifer Lopez’s twins, Max and Emme.
“This happens especially when I’m with my kids and the paparazzi take pictures of me,” Affleck explained. “Actually, I don’t want this. People can take pictures of me when I’m at a club, a movie premiere, or walking with my wife, but not everywhere,” he emphasized.
The 51-year-old actor also admitted that even his family members, who often ask him to change his demeanor, have noticed the look of boredom in his photos.
So now we wait to see him smile more.
