Bella Hadid is preparing for a legal battle with Adidas, having hired legal counsel to confront the athleticwear giant.
Sources familiar with the situation informed TMZ that Bella has retained lawyers to take action against Adidas due to their lack of public accountability, stating that she believes they spearheaded a cruel and damaging campaign.
According to sources, Bella is distressed that the company would launch a campaign associating anyone with a tragedy such as the Munich Massacre at the 1972 Olympics, where violence starkly contrasts with Bella’s personal views.
Contrary to earlier reports suggesting that Adidas had dropped her, Bella remains under contract with the company.
In case you missed it, Adidas featured Bella in a campaign for a retro sneaker referencing the 1972 Munich Olympics, an event marked by the hostage-taking and murder of 11 Israeli athletes by terrorists. Bella, a Palestinian-American who has frequently criticized the Israeli government for its actions against Palestinian people, found herself at the center of controversy, drawing ire from the American Jewish Community.
Adidas has since apologized, stating that they never intended to make a statement through the connection to historical tragedies. Earlier today, the company announced revisions to its campaign.
Bella has reportedly communicated to those close to her that she was unaware of the campaign’s implications when she signed on and is holding Adidas accountable for the situation.
