A new video has surfaced showing what many are calling a shocking failure in the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. The event unfolded slowly and in plain view, with a sluggish response from law enforcement.
The clip, circulating widely on social media, is stunning for all the wrong reasons. It shows the shooter moments before he set up his weapon, aimed, and attempted to kill the former President, with many people noticing him, including cops.
In the video, the cameraman captures 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks trying to lay low on top of a building outside the rally’s main grounds. However, he was spotted by many, who even verbally alerted the cops on the ground.
Crooks is seen crawling along the roof, lining up his shot, and firing several rounds into the crowd and at Trump, but he ultimately missed his target.
Secret Service agents, seemingly monitoring from a different rooftop, immediately returned fire, killing Crooks. An investigation is underway to learn more about his background and motive.
This new clip is deeply disturbing. There was a significant amount of time where Crooks set up without any law enforcement interception before he pulled the trigger, now widely labeled a severe security failure.
Despite many people seeing Crooks get into position and trying to alert the cops, the response time appeared slow or almost nonexistent. The Secret Service only reacted after Crooks fired.
The question now is whether they had eyes on him before the shooting. Video and eyewitness accounts suggest they did, but the Secret Service has not provided clear answers. They are currently investigating how this incident unfolded.
