Ethan Slater doesn’t have to wait for Frankie Grande’s approval.
The Broadway actor has already won over Ariana Grande’s big brother, who revealed he’s a “big fan” of her Wicked co-star and their relationship.
“I love him,” Frankie shared in an interview with TooFab on June 5. “He’s a very sweet guy.”
The 41-year-old noted he’s been a fan of Ethan since seeing him in The SpongeBob Musical, which ran from 2017 to 2018.
“And I got to interview him when I was doing the SpongeBob SquarePants podcast,” added Frankie, who has also starred in Broadway productions of Mamma Mia! and Rock of Ages. “The Broadway community is a tight-knit family.”
For Frankie, the real test of Ethan’s character is how his sister feels about him.
“Honestly, I’ve always said, all I want is for my sister to be happy,” he explained. “When she’s happy, I’m happy. So, I’m very happy.”
Ariana, 30, and Ethan, 32, co-star in the upcoming film adaptation of Wicked. Their romance became public in July 2023, after the “thank u, next” singer split from Dalton Gomez following two years of marriage.
Reflecting on how his sister landed the role of Glinda the Good Witch, Frankie recalled being “dramatic as ever” when he heard the news.
“We were messes when she told us,” the former America’s Best Dance Crew judge remembered. “She actually came to see me in a show and she pulled me aside and told me. Both of us hit the ground, on the floor, weeping.”
He added, “It was a beautiful moment, and all of the moments since then have just been absolutely magical. No pun intended.”
